The 100 Midi-E vehicles will be in service as taxis in the Yanqing area of Beijing in 2012. AC Propulsion began work with Foton Motor in early 2010 developing an EV conversion using AC Propulsion’s advanced Drive and Recharge system, along with an AC Propulsion designed and built battery pack.

UK TSB Awards £25M to Eight Low-Carbon Vehicle Demonstration Projects; Focus On Electric Vehicles

The project will include 15 Nissan cars, 10 Smith electric taxis, five Smith people carriers, a Smith executive minibus, two AVID saloon cars and two Liberty urban Range Rovers, alongside a network of charging points. The research will include a focus on domestic recharging behavior over a 12-month period.

In March, BYD chief executive officer Wang Chuanfu announced that in the first half of 2010 the company will sell only 100 e6 cars, to a taxi company in Shenzhen. Total cars initially available: 4,700. Other automakers are also proceeding cautiously.
