Prost for the tiny EV, which is still my favorite VW, as it is the closest we have from the original VW Beetle concept: Cheap, no-frills and reliable transportation for das Volk. 3, but was close (it ended just 100 units behind) from stealing the thunder from a record-setting Tesla Model 3.

Stephen Corby: BMW i4. Yes, my best drive in an EV this year was, without question, the BMW i4 Gran Coupe. It’s got the great, meaty steering of a BMW, the low centre of gravity of an EV, the short, sharp wheelbase that provides cornering ability, and a reasonable amount of punch. But is it any good? Biggest EV surprise of 2022.
