LanzaTech is currently building its first commercial ethanol facilities using waste gases, including one in China with China’s largest steel company, Shougang, and one in Belgium with the world’s largest steel manufacturer, ArcelorMittal. Each gallon of ethanol is converted to produce ½ gallon of aviation fuel.

Satellite method provides insight into ozone-NOx-VOCs sensitivity for different locations

With a combination of computer models and space-based observations, Xiaomeng Jin at the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory at Columbia University and her colleagues used the concentrations of ozone’s precursor molecules to infer whether ozone production increases more in the presence of nix, VOCs, or a mix of the two, for a given location.
