Last year, commercial buildings consumed roughly 20% of all the energy used by the US economy. Upgrading the energy efficiency of America’s buildings is one of the fastest, easiest, and cheapest ways to save money, cut down on harmful pollution, and create good jobs right now. But we can’t wait for Congress to act.

July, 2008 : The Australian government published the Garnaut Report, a comprehensive study of the effects of climate change on the country’s economy ( earlier post ). Slated for a July 2011 start, it would regulate 1000 of the country's biggest polluters and 75 percent of the country’s greenhouse gas emissions.
