The US Department of Energy (DOE) has published a Beyond Tailpipe Emissions Calculator that provides estimates of total greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions associated with driving an electric vehicle (EV) or plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV), including emissions from the production of electricity used to power the vehicle.

The governors of Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming signed a non-binding memorandum of understanding to create a unified regional electric vehicle plan to allow electric vehicles to recharge and travel easily along the 5,000 miles of freeways in the western region. Five states had EV (BEV + PHEV) sales share in Q2 of less than 2% (Arkansas, Mississippi, North Dakota, South Dakota, West Virginia, and Wyoming). Four states (California, Colorado, Nevada, and New Jersey) had a higher EV (BEV + PHEV) sales share in Q2 2022 than regular hybrid sales share for the state.
