The four-door sedan will deliver 40 miles on a charge; a small gasoline engine will recharge the battery as it approaches depletion, extending its range by as much as 200 miles. GM is developing more fuel-efficient vehicles. It offers 18 models that deliver 30 mpg or more. The car is expected to cost around $40,000.
