Beyond the spotlight of the top 20, the BYD Atto 3 resumed a steady increase in volume, with 52 units in May. BYD has the capacity to supply huge demand – it sold almost 30,000 units of the model in China alone in April. Buzz, in #4, is proving popular – surely the first minivan that has become a regular in the top 5 in Norway.

GM has announced plans for public sales in 2010, and almost every carmaker now says it will sell PHEVs or highway-speed battery electric vehicles (BEVs) sometime after 2010. In late 2008, BYD started selling the first production PHEV in China. Batteries not ready. Hyundai Partnering with Korean battery companies for hybrids.
