The United States Patent and Trademark Office for technology has awarded AeroVironment a patent that facilitates the optimal charging, management, maintenance and control of battery packs, chargers and electric vehicles. The information it gathers can also be used by the utilities for reporting and analysis.

Plug-in hybrid vehicles can be plugged into the electric grid – such as a normal 120 volt household outlet - to boost mileage.
