UK-based Swindon Powertrain is offering a range of high energy density (HED) Li-ion battery packs alongside its range of compact electric powertrains to low-volume car and light commercial vehicle manufacturers and developers. Available now, initially in either 25 kWh or 60 kWh options, HED is an automotive grade lithium-ion unit.

Freescale Semiconductor announced the availability of the industry’s first general market AEC-Q100 qualified intelligent battery sensor to combine three measurement channels, a 16/32-bit MCU, and a CAN protocol module in a single package. Battery failure is one of the leading causes of vehicle breakdowns due to electrical system errors.

The Leo power pack is made up of eight modules of ten lithium polymer cells, with each module assembled from ten small Li -ion polymer cells using a BMS. The kit is available now from Leo Motors on an order basis. The price of the kit is $20,000 with a 16kWh power pack.
