The new model, which is part of GE’s ecomagination program, delivers a cleaner, faster, safer and more reliable alternative to the aging North American fleet of DC-powered locomotives. According to industry estimates, the state’s automotive sector is now valued at USD 3 billion, with Gujarat exporting automobiles and auto components with over eight lakh vehicles exported in the fiscal year 2020-21. The results of an independent head-to-head fuel test between GE’s Evolution ES44AC and EMD’s SD70ACe Tier 2 emissions-compliant locomotives found that GE’s locomotives are more than 6% more fuel-efficient compared to their EMD counterparts. The head-to-head fuel tests were performed using reproducible and repeatable processes.
