Saab Automobile and BMW announced an agreement for the supply of engines to be used in a new Saab model series. Under the purchase, supply and development agreement, BMW will supply Saab with 4-cylinder 1.6 liter turbocharged gasoline engines from 2012. —Saab Automobile CEO Jan Åke Jonsson.

My friend (same one who made the ice cream truck sound effect comment to me) asked me if this was some kind of conspiracy from gasoline advocates to try and further delay mass acceptance of EVs. Stellantis Automakers like Stellantis, freely acknowledge that EVs are too expensive for most buyers, with Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares even warning that if average consumers can’t afford EVs as ICE vehicle sales are banned, “There is potential for social unrest.” They were like engineers. In some aspects, EV drivers return to these roots.

Wang entered the automobile business in 2003 by buying a Chinese state-owned car company that was all but defunct. BYD has also begun selling a plug-in electric car with a backup gasoline engine, a move putting it ahead of GM, Nissan, and Toyota.
