Toshiba Corporation expanded its SCiB product offering with the launch of a 20Ah-HP rechargeable lithium-ion battery cell that delivers high energy and high power at the same time. Toshiba expects to see the new cell deployed in automobiles, industrial equipment, and storage battery systems.

The earliest electric car batteries were disposable and were disposed of when they ran out of power, so there was no concept of recharging them. The invention of rechargeable batteries meant that newer models of electric cars could use the same batteries without having to be replaced. Corner of Battery Room.

The four-door sedan will deliver 40 miles on a charge; a small gasoline engine will recharge the battery as it approaches depletion, extending its range by as much as 200 miles. 80 miles was the range of the EV1 with Lead Acid batteries, that GM tried to use because they wanted the project to fail. check your facts.
