Underneath the e-fuels banner, Audi also includes renewable electricity for recharging its e-tron vehicles (“e-power”) and, should the market so require it, “green” hydrogen (e-hydrogen, derived in the e-gas process). How much CO 2 and how much energy for getting cobalt out of the earth, for getting lithium, for producing hydrogen.

Volt like hybrids are the intermediate future between hydrogen or fast charging electric cars. If GM hadnt killed off the EV1 and spent all those years doing bogus development on hydrogen fueled cars, wed be on the 3rd generation of cars using Volt technology by now. So I think its a safe bet for GM. Many others are not so careful.
