Interest in electric cars is surging: •Nearly 52,000 people were wait-listed as of mid-April for General Motors’ electric model, the Volt, due in November. Similarly, in China, the sheer size of the auto industry and the country’s ambitious clean-energy goals suggest a potentially huge market for electric cars.

They reality always seems to be just a few years away, the magazine complained. In the 1990s, Waters led development of the battery pack for General Motors Corp.s Yep, a truck.

As for building cars no one wants – when the March sales numbers came out the Detroit 3 outsold the Transplant 5 with Toyota behind General Motors and only slightly ahead of Ford by 8,000 vehicles.
