Steel is responsible for around 7% of man-made greenhouse gas emissions every year and is one of the world’s most polluting industries. But continuing to build new coal-fired plants will leave producers with only bad options toward a net-zero future by 2050. Retrofit or close any remaining coal-fired capacity by 2050.

So far Israel, Denmark, Australia , Hawaii and California’s Bay Area have plans to implement the Better Place model. The vision is fuelled by the fear of climate change and the need to find green alternatives to dirty coal, unpopular nuclear power and unreliable gas imports from Russia. Cheers — Al Louard 11.

Furthermore, changing the battery pack on say a Toyota Prius often costs a fortune, at least in most European countries, so such cars better be VERY cheap, but they’re not. Experts predict that by the year 2060 global warming, if left unchecked, could result in a temperature rise of seven degrees Fahrenheit higher than temperatures before the Industrial Revolution when man started widespread use of coal and other fossil fuels. The fact is, about half the world’s electricity comes from coal.
