Honda claims that by 2030, 40% of its North American vehicle sales will be battery-electric or hydrogen and that all gas cars would be phased out by 2040. ” Honda is one of a few automakers promoting hydrogen (fuel cells) as a viable alternative to batteries. ” We will undoubtedly make use of that resource.”

The Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) estimates that the current power grid could handle many tens of millions of cars plugging in at off-peak hours before wed have any capacity issues [See EPRI article PDF ].
