Given that the size of the storage battery scales directly with this figure, it pays to determine it as precisely as possible rather than just relying on a thumb rule in an article you read in a magazine…ahem. The last option is venerable old lead-acid, though perhaps it’s best to relegate it to the proverbial dustbin of history.

It's a pity that we have to remove this, but the size of the golf-cart batteries clearly interfere with the latch. The technical articles at Pelican Parts describe how to replace the pressure-based solution with an electric pump from a fish tank. The 914 uses pressure from the spare tire (??!!)

at least, the recycling infrastructure for the well-established lead-acid batteries is robust. lead-acid batteries have a far better recycling rate than even aluminum bottles — over 90% of lead-acid batteries are recycled. None of the new electric cars are planning to use old-tech lead acid batteries.

You guys go ahead and buy your 40 mile per charge GM golf cart.
