Canada-based FLO announced the installation of the first wave of workplace electric vehicle (EV) charging stations as part of a multi-year agreement with General Motors (GM), whereby FLO provides AC Level 2 and direct current (DC) fast chargers for GM to be installed on their premises in the United States.

With Blackout Mode, users are able to use their EV battery to power their home in the event of a power outage. Users who have solar panel installations can also store excess energy in their EV during low usage periods and then harness this energy at another time, including peak periods, to reduce their reliance on the grid.

The first grants have been awarded to fund programs including chapter-building and visibility activities, mentoring, and alumni engagement events. Officers at the Mu Iota Chapter at Seattle University used the grant to help pay for an electrical and computer engineering mentoring event it held.
