These zoning decisions blow in whatever direction the development winds are gusting in the city at the moment and there is no consistency, logic or equity in the decisions made. I said I would consider it, but that I was really hoping to establish a precedent, legally speaking, beyond Torrance. I want it to be all of California.

The prototype vehicle, called Project PUMA (Personal Urban Mobility and Accessibility), is designed to ease congestion and pollution problems in cities. It is based on the Segway Personal Transporter but holds two people, instead of one, and lets them sit, instead of stand. You could even call it Personal On-demand Driving.

The EDISON (Electric Vehicles in a Distributed and Integrated Market using Sustainable Energy and Open Networks) research consortium will seek to match power generation from wind turbines on the island of Bornholm, Denmark, with the power consumption of charging plug-in electric cars. The project is partly funded by the government of Denmark.
