Louisiana’s Ways and Means will hear SB 8 on Monday, May 24. The bill proposes to accelerate the sunset date of alternative fueled vehicle (electric vehicles and hybrid electric vehicle) tax credits in Louisiana. In essence, they want to end the tax credits earlier than planned.

These projects put more than 9,000 alternative fuel and energy-efficient light-, medium- and heavy-duty vehicles on the road, and establish 542 refueling locations across the country. The project will deploy 502 alternative fuel and advanced technology vehicles through 119 public and private fleets throughout the state.

UPS plans to build an additional 12 compressed natural gas (CNG) fueling stations and add 380 new CNG tractors to its growing alternative fuel and advanced technology fleet. That allows us to invest for the long-term, rather than planning around near-term fluctuations in fuel pricing.

That is the question posed by Car.com’s second annual Green Cities Index which shows which areas have the most interest in hybrid and alternative fuel vehicles. The index ranks cities across the USA by evaluating the number of hybrid searches as a percentage of overall car searches in each market and then ranking them.
