Universal Hydrogen ( earlier post ) has signed LOIs with Icelandair Group (Iceland), Air Nostrum (Spain), and Ravn Air (Alaska) for aftermarket conversion of aircraft to hydrogen propulsion and for the supply of green hydrogen fuel using Universal Hydrogen’s modular capsules. Icelandair.

ZeroAvia announced a development collaboration with Alaska Air Group, the parent company of Alaska Airlines, for a hydrogen-electric powertrain capable of flying 76-seat regional aircraft in excess of 500 NM. capable of transporting 76 passengers. ZeroAvia will set up a location in the Seattle area to support this initiative.

The company anticipates entry into commercial service in 2025 with a certified retrofit conversion kit for existing ATR 72 and De Havilland Canada Dash-8 regional airliners and a green hydrogen fuel services offering. Earlier this year, TOTE Maritime Alaska, a daughter company of TOTE Inc., The roll on/off ships (ro-ro) are currently both powered by 4 × MAN 58/64 engines and will be retrofitted to MAN 58/64 retrofit units. TOTE Maritime Alaska handles approximately one-third of goods transportation between the continental US and Alaska.
