New intelligent safety systems and smaller, more powerful electric motors afforded the design team the ability to shift the cabin forward and increase cabin length. Nearly 50 years ago, the club cab was introduced with second-row seating. More interior volume benefits second-row and third-row jump seat passengers.

I came as a guest for Driving Sustainability , Iceland’s conference for the future of cars. After the two day conference, we stayed on to film for “Revenge,&# because Iceland’s electricity is 100% renewable — the perfect place for EVs. They lined up an international and terrific schedule.

In the opening keynote at Ford’s annual trends conference, 2015 Further With Ford, CEO Mark Fields announced the next phase of the company’s Smart Mobility plan, originally announced in January this year at CES ( earlier post ). It runs through November. Ford also recently announced GoDrive, an on-demand, public car-sharing pilot.

Dozens of clubs and interest groups were started that met on the network. One interesting outgrowth of the early “office of the future” research is the Co-Lab, an experimental conference room that uses projection screens, the Ethernet, and half a dozen Dorados to help people work together and make decisions about complex projects.

In April of 2003 on Earth Day again, we presented “Saving Spaceship Earth&# sponsoring conference topics on Dangerous Nuclear Policies, Clean and Affordable Power, and a panel discussion on “Keeping our Communities Healthy and Sustainable.&# That was a very good event. Public Policy Conference on Clean Air - 2004.
