Honda is debuting a hydrogen semi truck concept at this year’s Advanced Clean Transportation Expo, an annual expo focusing on clean medium and heavy duty vehicles, next week in Las Vegas. Honda has been a little slow to electrify, falling behind as has been the case with a lot of Japanese automakers.

Honda Motor Co. CEO, Takanobu Ito, outlined the product, technology and business developments and direction planned to drive Honda’s growth by fiscal year 2017; among these are a plan to introduce three hybrid systems, Ito said. Honda is also developing a new more powerful two-motor hybrid system for mid-size vehicles.

Honda of America Mfg., This will be the third hybrid model built by Honda in the US and the first in Ohio. Honda Manufacturing of Indiana, LLC in Greensburg, Ind. was the first Honda plant in North America to build a hybrid vehicle, and currently produces both the Civic Hybrid and Acura ILX Hybrid models.

Consumer Reports has concluded its annual car reliability survey and the resulting data for 2023 has not been kind to all-electric vehicles. Plug-in hybrids were even worse with 146 percent more issues. The biggest issues for EVs were reportedly failing electric drive motors, unreliable charging, and trouble with battery packs.
