In 2012, 70% of Estonia’s total primary energy supply (TPES) came from oil shale. Estonia is also working to halve energy sector-related CO 2 emissions in 2020 from the 15.7 However, the direct combustion of oil shale, or its transformation into shale oil and then other fuels, emits more CO 2 than any other primary fuel.

It’s a modular building made of four different parts that can flex and withstand a natural disaster, or maybe a nuclear strike if the power company gets really mad. The Tesla Gigafactory will use geothermal and wind power, too.

Asked when there might be one million electric vehicles on the road that could also feed their battery capacity back into the grid in a two-way exchange, the panelists generally said between 2017 and 2020. Electric cars in the garages would double as battery packs for when energy supplies are scarce. The elegance of that is wonderful.
