Report: Plastics industry will release more GHGs than coal plants in the US by 2030

The US plastics industry reported releasing 114 million tons of greenhouse gases nationwide in 2020; an increase of 10 million tons over 2019. Three others are planned in Ohio, Louisiana, and Texas. Plastics in the Water degrade into GHGs. These 35 cracker facilities release as much GHG as 35 coal-fired power plants.
