Lightning Systems, a global developer of zero-emission drivetrains, announced an order from the California Department of State Hospitals for 12 zero-emission, all-electric Ford Transit 350HD models. The Lightning Electric models are being provided to the hospital system by Wondries Fleet Group, a leading fleet dealer in California.

The startup carmaker Rivian was founded a decade ago by RJ Scaringe, but it didn’t go public with its electric pickup truck and SUV until the 2018 Los Angeles Auto Show. Assuming they’re okay with an electric truck one segment below full-size, the R1T should make them happy.

At the Los Angeles Auto Show, BMW unveiled the first i8 Roadster, along with the 2019 i8 Coupe. The new BMW i8 Roadster and BMW i8 Coupe can cover up to 18 miles (29 km) (preliminary) in purely electric driving, up from 14 miles (23 miles) for the current i8.
