Mercedes-Benz Cars is starting construction of its first “Full-Flex Plant“ in Kecskemét, Hungary, about 90 km in the south of Budapest. With an investment of one billion euros, we are building in Hungary the first ‘Full-Flex Plant’ in the global production network of Mercedes-Benz Cars.

While development of the principle is ongoing, Audi has begun to use modular assembly in developing the production process for the electric motor for the 2018 e-tron SUV (C-BEV) ( earlier post ). Modular assembly uses 19 island stations, some of which are used several times within the build process.

Class, A-Class sedan, B-Class and the compact SUV GLA are also produced at the Mercedes-Benz plant in Rastatt —with classic combustion engines as well as plug-in hybrid drive. The second battery factory at the site began operations in 2018 and has been producing the EQC’s battery systems since 2019.
