With the growth of EV sales, there is increasing demand among drivers for more publicly available, strategically located DC Fast charging stations to facilitate longer distance EV travel. The no cost charging sessions for BMW i3 drivers will become even more valuable over time, as more of these DC Fast Combo chargers become available.

The proposed amendments, known as LEV III, ask for more stringent tailpipe and greenhouse gas emission standards for new passenger vehicles sold between 2018 and 2025. EPA’s “Phase I” GHG standard will reduce new vehicle emissions by about 4–5% per year from 2014–2018. In addition, four public workshops were held over the summer in Los Angeles, Fresno, Sacramento and San Francisco in an effort to consider comments prior to developing the draft.
