The pumps will be installed in plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV) in the Chinese plants of the customer. The electrical vacuum pump has been developed by Pierburg in Germany, where production started in 2017 for another order of the same customer. The ramp-up phase of production started last year.

The CX-50 comes standard with i-Active AWD and Intelligent Drive Select with paddle shifters, which Mazda calls Mi-Drive. Our road tests are based on this one-week drive of a new vehicle.
