The Consortium will focus on two core areas based on respective domain expertise: to identify protocols and standards for the adoption of AVs in real-world scenarios; and to develop niche AV technologies such as automotive cyber security, advanced autonomy and platform-agnostic AV kits through a build-test-deploy spiral approach.

In a joint project, Volkswagen and DFKI have started further to develop the software framework ROCK (Robotics Construction Kit) to allow direct, close cooperation between human beings and robots. The system was presented in a near-production scenario at the Volkswagen AG IT Symposium 2016. Saarland University. John Deere.

Friction-reducing measures include a variable speed water pump, a clutched air compressor, low-viscosity oil and an improved cylinder kit. US EPA and NHTSA are planning to issue a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking for the Phase 2 standards in the spring of 2015 and a final rule in the spring of 2016. Fleet: Schneider, Walmart.
