Lux Research: the $40,000, 200-mile-range EV is the biggest coming growth opportunity for energy storage in transportation

Analysis by Lux Research suggests that the market space represented by the emerging lower-cost, 200-mile-range EV will be the biggest coming growth opportunity in electric storage for transportation. According to Lux Research’s Automotive Battery Tracker, in 2014 EVs used $2.1-billion billion worth of energy storage in 2014.

According to the report, most automakers agree (as does Anderman) that a similar Tesla success with an economical mass-market EV with a range exceeding 200 miles and a price tag of $35,000 seems unlikely.
