Volkswagen is partnering with a number of companies, including Sanyo and Toshiba, on batteries, power electronics and electric machines.

When powerful acceleration is required, the battery-powered E-motor and the TSI work together in the Golf Variant (boosting). Whenever necessary, the battery can also be charged via the generator.
