General Motors plans to unveil the Chevy Volt, a plug-in hybrid, sometime in 2010, and Toyota may begin selling a plug-in Prius in late 2010 or early 2011. Consequently, gasoline-power vehicles pollute the most when the engine is first turned on in the morning after being off for many hours. They also appear to be somewhat capricious.
