Land Rover is replacing the EU4 2.4-liter liter diesel in the 2011 Defender with a new EU5 2.2-liter The smaller capacity engine delivers the same power, torque and economy as the outgoing engine, but makes this the cleanest Land Rover Defender yet produced. Land Rover Defender 12MY.

Land Rover is pricing the new 2012 Range Rover Evoque starting at $43,995 for the five-door, and $44,995 for the coupe. The Range Rover Evoque is the brand’s most fuel-efficient model to date, and achieves an estimated 28 mpg US EPA highway and 19 mpg US EPA city. Both prices include Destination and Delivery.

Researchers from the University of Bath (UK) are embarking on a new project to achieve a 35% reduction in car fuel usage. The project aims to develop a gasoline engine achieving the same performance as the current 5.0L V8 engine from an engine less than half the size. Sam Akehurst, principal investigator.
