The GWKulla, a short, curvy compact, runs on lithium-ion batteries and can go 160 kilometers (99 miles) when fully charged, the company says. Among the most notable: a gas-electric hybrid Shanghai Automotive Industry Corp. and Korean golf cart maker CT&T Co. Prius hybrid. plans to launch by the end of next year.

The four-door sedan will deliver 40 miles on a charge; a small gasoline engine will recharge the battery as it approaches depletion, extending its range by as much as 200 miles. Ive found it facinating how car commercials changed the main MPG number they promoted before gas went over $4 a gallon as city miles.
