Shanghai GM has outlined the next phase of its “Drive to Green” product strategy—launched in 2008 ( earlier post )—for 2011-2015. The joint venture between GM and SAIC intends to reduce fuel consumption and CO 2 emissions by 15% while improving performance 14% by 2015. Several targets announced in 2008 have already been achieved.

“FCEV” refers to all fuel cell vehicles, including E-REVs and fuel cell hybrids. Charge-sustaining fuel economy for all vehicles is assumed to be 36 miles per US gallon. Reduce GM’s total number of assembly, powertrain and stamping facilities in the US from 47 in 2008 to 34 by the end of 2010 and 33 by 2012.

In late 2008, BYD started selling the first production PHEV in China. First Escape PHEV delivered to SCE Nov 2007; 20 in 2008-2009.
