Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, posted the picture of a red Model Y on his Twitter along with his team, announcing the one-millionth car on March 9th, it took the company only 12 years to reach the mark since it produced its first car back in 2008. On the other hand, BYD’s total production rate also includes the sales of its plug-in hybrid.

In late 2008, BYD started selling the first production PHEV in China. First Escape PHEV delivered to SCE Nov 2007; 20 in 2008-2009. Beginning in 2005, we excerpted individual statements of intentions by carmakers, but by the start of 2008, the number of comments became too numerous for us to track. Batteries not ready.

Posted by: GSP | Apr 14, 2009 9:07:50 AM Funny, BYD (chinese) already came out with their version of the volt this year. needs to have an indigenous automobile industry, and not merely "transplants". Is it worth it to the American taxpayers to ensure that this particular electric car comes to market? Never again.
