We’re just weeks away from the first fleet buyers in Japan receiving the production version of the much hyped Mitsubishi i-MiEV electric car with individual buyers able to place orders for delivering beginning next April. The unexpected success of the vehicle has prompted the company to work on five more electric cars.

iMiEV Mitsubishi Innovative Electric Vehicle by Noel Adams Mitsubishi has been showing a number of electric cars at auto shows starting in Tokyo back in 2005, they didnt show the most recent iteration, the one that will be the production version, until the 2007 Frankfurt Auto show. The cars are also being fleet tested in Japan.

In addition to a recent electric car deal with NISSAN Motors ( NSANY ), Portland General Electric, the Oregon state governor and GE have also announced a joint venture with Mitsubishi Motors ( MMTOF.PK ) to develop and sell the Miev electric car with 85 mile range by 2011.
