People might be bored reading about the Prius but a review on four Priuses (2004, 2005, two 2006s) that my family owns that ran a total of 913k km (570k miles) should be interesting, right? It was time to buy our first car. I found a a 2004 with 247k km (154k miles) on the clock. It is actually a quite fun car to drive.

Testing on a Scuderi split-cycle engine at the Southwest Research Institute suggests the model would consume 25 per cent less fuel than a standard petrol engine while matching its power and torque. The preliminary results follow testing in a 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier, but may only be the beginning of the potential fuel consumption reduction.

This event wasn’t about rewarding the fastest car - instead it was about rewarding the most fuel efficient with more than 200 teams from 29 countries competing to win the €1,000 top prize in this annual green car rally. The cars had to also complete the course in 51 minutes and each team got four attempts.

The title of WhatGreenCar Car of the Year 2009 has been awarded to the ‘next generation’ Toyota Prius, due to be launched in the UK on 1 st August 2009. The new Prius was chosen from a short-list of 10 green car finalists which were test-driven at Imperial College, London, by six of the UK’s leading green transport and environmental experts.
