At these prices, people are buying the "environmental feature" -- they want to be among the first owners of the worlds cleanest extended-range vehicles. The head of Chryslers ENVI division, Lou Rhodes, told AutoblogGreen this morning that Chrysler is marketing this battery-only version of the van to commercial fleet customers who typically have shorter range requirements. The extended-range version will be focused on retail customers.

Competition is going to force them to produce a comfortable, usable, extended range EV for that price, and I will just have to wait. The first one was the Zytek design you mentioned, but this is a 2nd "new and improved" design from Tesla, with more power, higher speed and greater range.

Third, I dont understand why people feel it available in message chatting to speak in a manner they would doubtless not use in personal conversation. For extended range I guess one could carry a fairly modest generator set in the trunk to avoid ever being stranded. Must you say "incredibly idiotic" and "mind numbingly dumb"?
