The California state fleet has reduced its petroleum consumption by 13% compared to a 2003 baseline, according to a state progress report. In 2003, the state fleet consumed 38,559,715 gallons of petroleum-based fuel (gasoline and diesel), according to the report. 216,723 gallons E85 ethanol (6%).

FedEx plans to transform its entire parcel pickup and delivery (PUD) fleet to all-electric, zero-tailpipe emissions by 2040. To support the new vehicle technology, FedEx is building charging infrastructure across its vast network of facilities, including the more than 500 charging stations the company has already installed across California.

During 2015, UPS plans to complete installation of ORION routing on about 70% of the planned routes. The ORION algorithm was initially developed in a lab and tested at various UPS sites from 2003 to 2009. By operating one unified fleet with ORION technology, UPS can optimize pickup and deliveries across its operation.
