Dont PHEVs just shift pollution from gasoline cars to power plants? But its monumentally less pollution , even on the national (half-coal) grid. How about a car-mounted wind-generator? And its easier to clean central power plants than millions of vehicles.

If our country is going to spend money like a drunk sailor we should have spent it on building renewable energy power plants like Wind and Geothermal. Denmark did that with Wind Power and now most of their energy comes from wind rather than oil, natural gas, or coal. We are facing a big problem with global warming.
