The KPMG research finds that the external environmental costs of 11 key industry sectors jumped 50% from US$566 to US$846 billion in 8 years (2002 to 2010), averaging a doubling of these costs every 14 years. I had surmised this in my 2002 car design thesis [link] even before anyone was talking about plug in series hybrids. The federal government cant hand out money to a company thats telling them that itll lose money on a $40, 000 automobile that more than half the populace couldnt afford if the economy was in good shape! Never again.
