The HP turbine housing features an integral bypass duct, which can be opened or closed by means of a charge-pressure control flap triggered by a vacuum cell. This means that the optimum charge pressure can be built up at low engine revs. 310 Nm @2000-4300 rpm. The result is a genuine two-stage turbocharging process. 245 g/km.

Both ministers drove a MINI E electric car at the event as they announced plans to support motorists by providing help worth £2000-£5000 towards buying their first electric or plug-in hybrid car when they hit the showrooms. The MINI E’s lithium-ion battery can be plugged into all standard power outlets.

The four-door sedan will deliver 40 miles on a charge; a small gasoline engine will recharge the battery as it approaches depletion, extending its range by as much as 200 miles. Considering how much GM plugs we do 80% of our driving in the city, those highway miles dont get much use. The car is expected to cost around $40,000.
