This isnt an either-or equation — GM needs to develop more fuel efficient cars alongside the Volt, and its stupid to expect the Volt to be a money-maker out of the gate. They only have that many models because they use the same chassis and drivetrain to build 3 different cars, one branded as a Chevy, the next a Pontiac, then a Saturn, etc.
