All the wind farms and solar panels in the world won’t do anything to lower the outflow of hundreds billions of dollars annually or decrease our pump-fueled funding of Islamic fundamentalism unless we build cars that can use that cleaner electricity. I wish I knew what’s holding Gore back from full-throated support for plug-in cars.

W e've had the people in our shop go over the new energy bill with an eye for Plug Ins and electric transportation in general. DOE to provide grants for electric transportation projects such as truck stop electrification, airport ground support equipment, electric rail, etc. $95 90 million per year authorized (2008-2012).

Out in the desert as part of Burning Man , our encampment, Snow Koan Solar, is setting up a solar photovoltaic EV Charging Station (at 7:30 and Desert) for electric scooters, golf carts, sofas and barstools. We'll also be taking Burning Man art projects off petroleum generators by switching them to solar electricity.

And were gratified that General Motors recognizes this study as validation of its decision to evolve to the electrification of transportation. Plus more people are installing rooftop solar photovoltaic systems, and clean wind power is vastly expanding nationally (see study by eminent environmentalist Lester Brown cited at CalCars Kudos ).
