Canada-based battery materials company Elcora Advanced Materials has received , through its Ermazon SARL wholly owned subsidiary (purchased in December 2021), a manganese exploitation license from the Moroccan government for the Atlas Fox Deposit in the country. Elcora is preparing a comprehensive mining plan for the Atlas Fox Deposit.

Recently the BMW Group signed a cobalt supply contract with Moroccan mining company Managem Group ; the contract has a volume of around €100 million, said Andreas Wendt, member of the Board of Management of BMW AG responsible for Purchasing and Supplier Network. Cobalt is an important raw material for electromobility.

The technology group ZF will, from 2025, purchase silicon carbide (SiC) devices from STMicroelectronics. Under the terms of the multi-year contract, ST will supply a volume of double-digit millions of silicon carbide devices to be integrated in ZF’s new modular inverter architecture going into series production in 2025.

The BMW Group has also signed a long-term supply contract for its fifth-generation electric drive trains with its second battery cell supplier, Samsung SDI. The contract, with value of €2.9 billion, extends from 2021 to 2031.
