Canada-based battery materials company Elcora Advanced Materials has received , through its Ermazon SARL wholly owned subsidiary (purchased in December 2021), a manganese exploitation license from the Moroccan government for the Atlas Fox Deposit in the country. Manganese ore 37% sells at about US$331 / metric ton on the international market.

Recently the BMW Group signed a cobalt supply contract with Moroccan mining company Managem Group ; the contract has a volume of around €100 million, said Andreas Wendt, member of the Board of Management of BMW AG responsible for Purchasing and Supplier Network. Cobalt is an important raw material for electromobility.

Under the terms of the multi-year contract, ST will supply a volume of double-digit millions of silicon carbide devices to be integrated in ZF’s new modular inverter architecture going into series production in 2025.
