The City of Bogota, Colombia, has launched a pilot project to spur the use of electric vehicles in Bogota’s center-city taxi fleet. The first taxis are expected to be operational in the city in the next few months. Bogota’s project will improve local air quality and noise pollution.

According to the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), the final details regarding the scrappage incentive scheme have now been resolved, with the full backing of car manufacturers. Under the scheme, half of the £2,000 discount is funded by the government and the other half by participating carmakers.

The first stage of a Government-supported UK-wide project to trial electric and ultra low emission vehicles began Saturday in the West Midlands with the keys to 25 Mitsubishi i-MiEVs (Mitsubishi innovative Electric Vehicle) ( earlier post ) being handed over to independent drivers. 47 kW/180N·m max motor.
