Although biofuels have other economic or security advantages, DOE understands that any drop-in liquid fuel will not insulate consumers from the global oil price. DOE will focus on partial electrification because hybrid electric (HEVs) and plug-in hybrid electric (PHEVs) can access existing infrastructure.
